Focus and Scope

Applied Social Psychology Studies (ASPS) is a peer-reviewed open-access journal (without author fees), published online on an article-by-article basis. It publishes articles that substantially engage with and advance the understanding of social problems, their reduction, and the promotion of social justice, from social psychological perspectives. It particularly encourages work that

• relates to issues relevant to regions of the world that are underrepresented in psychological research, or conducts research among populations underrepresented in psychological research;
• introduces new research methods, or uses methods that are underrepresented in social and political psychological research (e.g., qualitative methods);
• contributes to innovation, questioning of dominant assumptions and approaches, and critical debate;
• has the potential to inspire practical applications towards reducing social and political problems and promoting social justice; and
• draws on other disciplinary perspectives (where relevant) to enrich social and political psychological theorizing.

Article Types

ASPS publishes several categories of articles, in particular

• theoretical articles,
• review articles, and
• original research reports (including replication studies).
• To stimulate critical debate, ASPS also publishes commentaries.
